Macrolophus caliginosus is a highly mobile predator used to prevent whitefly populations building up in tomatoes and aubergines. This predator attacks Bemisia sp. as well as Trialeurodes sp. of whiteflies. All stages eat whiteflies and it should be released early for good establishment. Our packaging is designed to maintain optimum conditions during transport by providing humidity, food and shelter for the 250 insects inside. It also allows quick visual assessments of quality by the end user.

Instructions for use

Use at the rate of 0.25 - 1 Macrolophus per sqm as a single introduction or as a split introduction
Close greenhouse doors and vents. Apply in the cool morning or evening. Avoid application in bright sunlight. Gently lift the wood wool part way out of the container, and turn and tap it while walking along the rows. Distribute the insects evenly throughout the crop. Leave the containers and the wood wool in the crop for several hours, allowing any remaining insects to escape

Important information

This predator may cause damage to Cherry tomato varieties at low pest populations.
Establishment on cucumbers and peppers is poor

Storage and transport

Keep out of direct sunlight
Transport at 10-20°C
Use immediately, or within 18 hours of receipt if conditions do not permit. In such cases store closed container at 10°C in darkness.
