Encarsia formosa is a hymenopterous parasite of whitefly larvae, attacking them at the 3rd and 4th larval stage. It is supplied as parasitised scales stuck to cards, which are hung in the crop from where they hatch out and attack the whiteflies. Each card will produce minimum 60 female wasps.

Use 1 card per 120 m2 at weekly intervals until whitefly appear, then increase the dose to 1 card per 20-60 m2 at weekly intervals until 90% of whitefly scales on lower leaves are black.
Open the box in the glasshouse. Separate individual cards by tearing the strips along the perforations. Always handle the cards by the tops to prevent damage to Encarsia in the lower circle.
Tomatoes and Cucumbers - Hang the cards in a shady position amongst the foliage of the crop 1 metre beneath the plant head. Distribute the cards uniformly throughout the crop.
Pot Plants - Place or hang the cards in a shady position level with the lower leaves. Avoid contact with the growing medium. Distribute the cards uniformly throughout the crop.
If daytime greenhouse temperatures drop below 18°C, and 14°C at night, emergence may be delayed and establishment will be poor.
Encarsia formosa is not recommended for control of Bemisia tabaci
