Being a tropical species, Amblyseius (Typhlodromips) montdorensis will not establish well at night-time temperatures < 15ºC. It’s ideal temperature range is around 20-35ºC. Performance in summer trials has generally been better than winter and spring trials. It thrives in high humidity conditions. It has a faster lifecycle than A. cucumeris, and it lays 50% more eggs than A. cucumeris. Prey consumption rate is double that of A. cucumeris. It has no diapause, thus will continue to work in short day-lengths, but will die in winter. It is therefore unlikely to become established outside greenhouses under the cold European winter conditions. Amblyline m is recommended for use in protected strawberries in summer time. It is also recommended for development in vegetables, salad crops, ornamentals and pot plants.
