Amblyline cal contains 2,000 Amblyseius californicus predators in a corn grit mix. The product is packed in a 100ml plastic vial with a Shaker cap. It is used in covered crops as a treatment for spidermites, Tetranychus urticae and T. cinnibarinus, this predator represents a valuable addition to the line of products to control this important pest.

Amblyseius californicus needs a release licence in some countries. It gives good control of spidermites, but is more expensive than Phytoseiulus persimilis and is not required in situations where the latter is already giving good control. It should be tested in hotter and drier situations where Phytoseiulus has some difficulties to control the pest. There are a number of acaricides that are compatible with use of Amblyseius californicus, such as hexithiazox. Dried residues of abamectin are not directly toxic, but ingestion of poisoned spider mites may result in death. This compound is useful for cleanup treatments early in the growth of the crop, or towards the end of the crop cycle. Seek advice before using with Sulphur.

Keep vials horizontal and cool until use.
DO NOT expose to direct sunlight at any time. Immediately before opening, tap the base of the vial on a solid surface to dislodge the mites, and gently rotate the vial to distribute them evenly throughout the carrier. Open each vial in the crop when ready to use it. Sprinkle the mixture onto the leaves of the crop, applying more into and around established spider mite colonies. Apply at a total rate of 4/m˛ as one or more applications. Increase to 20/m˛ in ‘hot spots’.
